Class Experience

Learn French with Ms. Erika in this fun and engaging class for beginner French learners! In this class, learners will meet twice weekly for 25 minute sessions to improve their French speaking and reading abilities. Every week we will focus on a different lesson. Your child will learn phonics, short sentence frames, vocabulary for family, friends, food animals, emotions, and much more!

All beginner French learners are welcome in this class. However, this class is intended as a follow-up to my (Weekly Beginner French Class Part 1). If you are unsure which class is suitable for your child, please feel free to contact me for more information. Below you will find a detailed breakdown of the class structure for each 25 minute session.

As the teacher, I will guide students through the vocabulary words by giving each student the opportunity to repeat these new words and practice them in sentences with the other learners. I incorporate the use of lots of visual aids to help my students learn new concepts. This will include slides for the students to follow along and flashcards to help memorization. Students will also get to participate through sing-a-longs and short reading passages to help increase the retention of the new material they have learned. This is a very interactive class and your child will have the opportunity to both listen to a French speaker and practice using the language themselves.
I create a relaxing and welcoming environment where students feel comfortable practicing a new language by ensuring that all learners are included and have the opportunity to participate. In this class, your child will not only gain French language skills, but they will have fun along the way!

Greetings (1 min):
- Students will greet the teacher and each other.

Opening Song (2 min):
- The opening song sets the stage for the content of the lesson and is related to the vocabulary words that students will learn in that session. Students will have a chance to listen to and repeat the lyrics before the song is played. Students are invited but not obligated to sing along.

Vocabulary (10 min):
- During the vocabulary section, students will be introduced to the new vocabulary words for that session. Students will learn between 5-10 new words each session. The teaching of these words will be reinforced with both digital and physical props, including presentation slides and flashcards. This is a conversational class, so all students will have the opportunity to practice repeating each new word after the teacher. Students are also welcome to interact with the other learners to increase their practice. Repetition is reinforced in this section of the lesson to help increase students' retention of these new words and establish their meaning. Students will gradually be encouraged to repeat the vocabulary words more independently after repeating after the teacher a few times.

Practice ( around 15 min):
- After each student has had the opportunity to successfully repeat the vocabulary words, we will practice using these words in context as a class. This section of the lesson will continue to rely on the use of slides to reinforce students' understanding. This section will include activities like filling in the missing word, identifying different pictures, practicing short sentences, answering questions, and a read-aloud.
