In this course, students will learn the basics of hand lettering. They will learn the differences between hand lettering and cursive, and what makes hand lettering so cool! Students will learn an easy hack to hand lettering called "faux calligraphy", AKA fake calligraphy! It is an easy way to learn the basics, and is a great starting point for learning more detailed types of hand lettering. This is how I learned to do it 7 years ago! :)
Differences between hand lettering, calligraphy, and cursive The basic steps/forms needed for hand lettering What "faux" calligraphy is, and why is it useful for hand lettering We will go through the entire alphabet, and each student will learn to write their name.
I have 7 years experience with hand lettering, and have taught workshops on this particular style for beginners. I also am self taught, and this is how I learned the basics of hand lettering.
Practice pages will be provided that you can print at home! (used for part of the class, and can be re-used for practice at home)
Printable pages will be provided for in class work, and for practice at home. For class, students will need -Paper (can be printer paper, watercolor paper, or multi-media paper) -pencil -eraser -marker (thin tip crayola is recommended, but any markers will work!)
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
