Multi-Day students will “Review” pronunciation, word patterns, meanings, sound spellings, “Learn” word types, suffixes, context clues, origins; establish what they “know/understand”, and “add to their number of grade-level words retained”.

Class experience

This class is taught in English.
1. Students will be expected and encouraged to learn at least one new word per class meeting.(minimum of 16 words for the semester). It is my belief that each student will be able to achieve possibly 30 new words or more if they are motivated to do so.
2. It is very important that each student participates in the activities that are being made available because they are layering the necessary skills that are required by the students to learn new material. By participating in the activities, students will uncover their stronger learning abilities, and also reveal where they have opportunities to grow.
My past assignment was as an ELD (English Language Development) teacher for 3rd and 4th grade students for 6 years. Additionally, I was an AEMP (American English Mastery Program) teacher for 8 years. The requirement met were to teach students culturally relevant information while helping them acquire academic English with confidence in both reading and writing.

If students have received their Language Arts Reading materials or Anthologies, chapter books or short stories, science textbooks, and social studies texts, "please let your students know we can use their school issued books for their vocabulary classes". This will prepare them for their interaction in classes and allow a "pre-reading" of the materials to extract some understanding, which is a strategy for helping to build comprehension.
