In this week course, students will learn and practice the basics of coding, problem solving and critical thinking skills using Botley the Coding Robot. Student 4 year old will need parent support. Students will need Botley the robot for class and can use items available at home for daily obstacle challenges if you do not have the kit (i.e. robot kit, big blocks, small blocks, books, boxes, shoes, small balls, etc.) Teacher will model and present a coding task and challenge each class. Day 1: Introduction to Coding and Robotics. - Review Botley's buttons and remote commands - Practice coding using basic commands (forward, backward, right, and left) Day 2: Introduce Basic Challenge - draw a zig zag line on paper using black marker or use tiles - have robot read black line - complete basic challenge and code Day 3: Introduce If/Then Challenge - set up obstacle course with an object in the way - code robot to detect object and go around it Day 4: Introduce Loops - set up obstacle with a repeat path - code robot using repeat commands

Hello! My name is Cynthia Burleigh. I live in Texas. I graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor in Science in Information Systems. I started my career in a banking institute, but quickly realized I wanted to become a teacher. I have been working in education for 15 years, 3 years teaching with Outschool. I am Bilingual Certified - speak English and Spanish and teach Bilingual and ESL students. My teaching experience includes: Robotics, Codings, Spanish, Pre K - 3rd grade Bilingual instruction, Bilingual Reading Specialist, and STEM teacher.
I love to teach Reading, Math, Spanish, Technology and STEM (including robotics). I love spending time with family, teaching, and running. A little fun fact about me...I run marathons for fun! I can't wait to see you in class.Reviews
