Class Experience

I love playing bass guitar! It was the first stringed instrument I learned how to play.

Did you know that playing an instrument can...
*Improve your confidence. When you become better at refining your skills and notice your success, your confidence begins to soar.
*Sharpen your concentration. Research shows that musicians are quicker to notice their mistakes and fix them.
*Increase memory capacity. Research suggests that regularly learning an instrument changes the shape and power of your brain.
*Help with literacy and math skills. Since learning music uses these skills, it can help with the academic side as well.

This one-on-one class is designed to:
-introduce new musicians to the beginning level of playing bass guitar.
-teach students according to their level of experience.
-teach individual notes as well as collections of notes in playing.
-learn 2 finger style
-learn flat pick style
-learn slap style

For learners that would like to take this class more than once, I will keep a record of their progress in order to ensure they get the most out of each class.

Learners can bring me a song they want to learn how to play and I will teach them how to play it.
In this case, it would be helpful to send me the song at least 24 hours before class starts so I can be prepared for the lesson.

My highest goal is that playing bass guitar would be a fun experience for everyone!

PLEASE NOTE:

**This class is not designed to teach all of these skills in a single 30 minute time limit.

**Having the bass guitar tuned before class starts increases the amount of learning time in class. I will be happy to help tune the bass guitar in class, but that will limit what I am able to teach that week.

**You MUST have an amp for this class. I cannot hear the bass guitar unless it is plugged into an amp.

** If you do not see a time that works for you, please let me know!

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been a musician for over 25 years, with the main instruments I play being acoustic guitar, classical guitar, and bass guitar.
I grow out the nails on my thumb and first three fingers on my right hand so that I can play traditional classical guitar and fingerpicking on acoustic guitar.

My experience:
-played bass guitar on my sister's album when she was with a record label
-played all three instruments in many different bands and performances
-taught many students, including my own children
-repair and maintain all of my own instruments
-perform at nursing homes and assisted living facilities with my family
