Class Experience
Bryan Niven is an award-winning artist and photographer, whose creativity and skill set spans multiple areas of art and motivation. He has taught thousands of students over the years, in classroom settings and in travel workshops, in places like Arches National Park, and New York City. Although Mr. Niven has taught beginner through advanced art and photography to all ages, he loves teaching art to children, because he loves how honest, excited, and creative they are. Mr. Niven has also been asked to share his art on various occasions, by companies such as Apple and Adobe for purposes of motivating young and old alike.
All students desiring to learn digital illustration/design will NEED to have Procreate for either iPad or iPhone installed on their device. Though NOT REQUIRED, it is HIGHLY recommended that students have the official Apple Pencil if they are using the iPad, so they have access to pressure sensitivity and tilt capabilities. Some specific brushes Mr. Niven offers have advanced rendering options through blending and smearing capabilities, such as with oil paint, or watercolor brushes etc. If using the iPhone, there are a few styli that support pressure sensitivity, BUT please contact Mr. Niven FIRST so he can help assist in your purchase or questions. Depending on the class need, additional digital brushes, papers, or templates etc, may be needed. Please let Mr. Niven know, AHEAD OF TIME, which of his classes, or what personal interests, you are wanting, so he can properly prepare himself to teach your child. If your child is wanting photography lessons, they will need a camera with advanced presets as a minimum, with manual exposure control recommend. Again, PLEASE let Mr. Niven know ahead of time so he can be prepared to teach. Thank you.
