Hello! Come learn and play with me through games, lessons and a variety of activities. Each class will provide learners the chance to interact and socialize with familiar faces and to engage with fun topics. A weekly theme will provide a focus for our time together and each class will incorporate letters, writing, numbers, counting, social studies and science in meaningful ways. About the Class: We will greet each other, sing, play, talk, and learn together! We will work on our fine motor skills week through drawing, writing, and playing with sculpting dough. I love to hear and learn about what is important to children, and I believe they can express it in a variety of ways, so I offer the opportunity to use various material and activities to do just that! Classes may include opportunities for dramatic play, crafts, experiments, art, and building. While suggested items to have on hand are listed below, I will communicate any needed materials in our Outschool classroom the Sunday before class begins. There is rarely anything to print as I prefer to use manipulatives, materials and items from the home for child centered, open ended activities and projects. **This is an on-going class, so you can come and go as you need...or stay as long as you like! About Me: As an Early Childhood Educator of over 14 years, I am excited to bring my love of play based learning to Outschool! I have worked in a private preschools in Washington D.C. and the Dominican Republic. Much of my training has been in Reggio Emilia and project based learning. Our time will be hands on, interactive and a chance for children to share. I believe it is important for young children to create, play and interact, and my hope is that we do just that in this class. Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello!
I am Ms. Marie, a lover of learning, playing and creating! I have been doing these things all of my life, and been sharing them with learners of all ages for 13 years!
I have been a "teacher" all of my life (babysitter, camp counselor, resident assistant, Peace Corps volunteer), but formally, I have been teaching since 2009. Much of my experience comes from teaching 3, and 4-year old children in a private preschool, and I have taught 1st and 2nd grade.
My strength as a teacher comes from teacher my ability to follow the interest of my learners and to create meaningful, play-based learning experiences in my classes. My classes incorporate literacy, numeracy, science and social studies in hands on ways so that learners can explore, create and engage with materials and each other. Whether a journaling class, a preschool class or a games camp, I have a ton of energy and loads of enthusiasm! I look forward to meeting you in my classroom!
