In this camp, students will learn how to perform an aerial in a positive and encouraging environment. This class is for students who can complete a cartwheel with straight legs, a roundoff, and a strong handstand. This class is not for beginner students. We will start each class with a short stretch and then work on drills and skills that move each student towards doing the cartwheel with no hands. Equipment: Special equipment isn't required for this class. It is helpful if each student has a folding gymnastics mat or an inflatable gymnastics mat for some drills. It is not a big deal if your student doesn't have either of those. We have many drills to teach this skill without any equipment. This class is learner-directed, and skills and drills will depend on class abilities in each camp. Class Schedule: 0-5 - Welcome and stretch 10-25 - Aerial practice 25-30 - Review skills learned each day/goodbye Please practice gymnastics in a safe space with no obstacles in the way. (coffee tables, breakable valuables, etc.) Also, provide a soft area (gymnastics mat, yoga mat, carpet) for your gymnast to practice on.
