We will break into parts/characters for ASL story time to tell the story in ASL for Elephant or for Piggie.Class Experience
Each week we will read the following Elephant and Piggie Stories. After reading the story we will have time for class participation to share a favorite or funniest part of the story. We will practice signing favorite and funniest pages in ASL together. We will then practice the ASL signs for the story that I will have pictures and words to accompany the signs from the story in a power point form. After signing the signs from the story. We will read the story again and teacher will tell the story in ASL. Students can participate by signing along with their choice of character- Elephant or Piggie! Week of August 26th- I’m Going. Week of Sept 2nd- I Broke my Trunk. Week of Sept 9th- We are in a Book. Week of Sept 26th- The Thank you Book. Week of Sept 23rd- Happy Pig Day. Week of Sept 30th- My New Friend is So Fun. Week of Oct 7th- I Will Surprise My Friend. Week of Oct 14th- Pigs Make me Sneeze
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to sign some of their favorite Elephant and Piggie Stories. Students will be given a set words and phrases list from the story. We will learn how to sign phrases to sign something we like about the story.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been studying ASL for 14 years. I studied Speech Pathology at Towson University and graduated with my Bachelors in Science. I had completed several Courses in ASL and became interested in pursuing ASL interpreting. I attended a 4 year post bachelors program for American Sign Language Interpreter Training. I completed 2 years of my training at CCBC in Maryland and 2 years at Rowan College in New Jersey and graduated with my certificate for Interpreter Training. I worked in a school setting as an educational interpreter for 3 years. I ran a signing program for young learners in an early childhood center for a year. I also have taught ASL signs on outschool for over a year.
