Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this interactive, 8-lesson, flexible schedule, self-paced course, your child will learn to communicate in sign language. No sign language experience is required. Our classes will focus on getting your child comfortable using their hands and face to communicate in sign language. No live classes. All classes are prerecorded. Your learner will also be introduced to deaf culture. We will build on what we've learned each class, and each lesson will have practice homework. I prerecord and submitted the classes to the classroom so they are ready to view immediately upon enrollment. Each class will begin with a review of knowledge and will end with the homework assignment. The students will have immediate access to watch the class and sign along with the teacher/s. They will then be encouraged to teach someone else what they've learned. Before beginning the next lesson each student will be encouraged to submit a video of themselves signing the assigned homework. The teacher will be able to see how learners are progressing in their signs and give commendation and correction where needed. Some of the things we will learn: Lesson 1: Introduction to sign language, using our face and hands to communicate. Intro to deaf culture. Lesson 2: How to introduce yourself to someone deaf. Lesson 3: Beginning conversation. Lesson 4: Common greetings and how to ask questions. Lesson 5: The alphabet and fingerspelling practice. Lesson 6: Building on asking and answering questions. Lesson 7: Numbers and counting. Lesson 8: Comprehensive review. I am excited to help your learner to begin their wonderful journey into American Sign Language! See you in the movies!
