Class Experience
This class is designed to include complete beginners without any prior knowledge of ASL. All necessary signs are taught step by step and the focus on learning the fundamental basic signs in American Sign Language. Students will learn an intro phrase and words most commonly used in ASL. This class will be interactive and allows everyone the opportunity to sign. We have a variety of ways we will interact such as with games, slides, and video clips. I am an Educational Interpreter and Tutor and I have been working in the school districts for over 20 years with children that are profoundly deaf or hard of hearing students from PreK-12 grades. I have Deaf family members and a love for the language.
There are free flashcards attached to this lesson that you may download and keep!
2 files available upon enrollment* Students may print out and bring with them the ASL manual alphabet. ( this is optional and the printout is provided free in the lesson) * Students should be on a device that will allow them to click and drag ( mouse or iPad) we will play a few games where I let the students take turns in the game.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
