Class Experience

Each student will be able to name at least one fact about their home state. Each student will learn the 50 state song and be able to practice at home with class resources (emailed print outs and audio file).
I have a musical background in singing and have been formally trained to read music and play the piano and the flute. Melody is a wonderful aid in memorization and will create a higher retention rate than almost any other method. Through music, I have been able to memorize various facts that I have carried with me for many years. I would love to share this fun method with your child! Being able to quickly recall all of the U.S. states is an invaluable resource for many future classes including Geography and U.S. History.
Listen to the audio file and sing sing sing!
Please print the student's home state from and decorate it. The student can use crayons, markers, glitter, or any creative method. Bring this to class. Students should come prepared to tell the other students at least one fact about their home state. Facts can be found at (this is optional for younger students). The teacher will also share a fact about each student's home state. Prior to class, students will receive an email with an audio clip of the state song. This is not for preparation, but for practice following the class.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
No formal assessment will be given, but progress will be assessed base on participation and improvement.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
NOTE: Unless a student has a verified badge from Outschool, each student is required to make video contact with me at the beginning of class. This is to ensure that the classroom includes only children as Outschool has a school-age policy for the safety and security of your child and to comply with state and federal laws. Refunds WILL NOT be made if a student will not make audio or visual contact.
