History and knowledge of Venice, Italy and leading cultural elements about the city and culture.
I am an author and library educator who has also traveled to Venice. I specialize in library programs with my children's books. I have published 12 animal themed storybooks that cater to themes of kindness, teamwork and believing in one's dreams. In regard to the class topic, I have taught summer and spring public library programs to PreK to 3rd grade ages several times in Iowa along with delivering this program to 3rd graders in Prairie du Chien, WI. The program taught the history of Venice and included a book reading of The Tale of Masha: A Cat's Magical Meatball.
There is no homework but I will preface the class by telling students that we will have comprehension questions at the end of the lesson. Here are the questions that will be asked at the end of class: Where is Venice located? Why are cats so popular in Venice? What was the main plot of today's book reading? What was the theme? Can you name the main character? What was the setting? What was Masha's dream?
