Description
Class Experience
-Students will know the States of Matter. -Students will be able to compare and contrast the properties of each State of Matter. -Students will understand how substances can change from one State of Matter to another.
Gallon Ziplock bag Pint Ziplock Bag (sandwich bag will work) 4 Cups of Ice Towel, Oven Mit, or Winter Gloves (to protect hands from the coldness) 1 Tablespoon of Sugar 1/2 Cup Half and Half 1/4 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract (or any other flavor extract you would like to try) 1/2 Cup Salt Spoon For Chocolate add the following to all the other ingredients: 2 teaspoons cocoa powder + 1/2 teaspoon sugar (note: you will still need the 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
The experiment involves placing ingredients into a bag and shaking. If you feel your child will require assistance you are welcome to assist. The experiment will be near the end of class. Ensure your learner does not have any allergies to the listed ingredients.
