Learn About Famous Inventors With Escape Rooms!

Each week will consist of a video lesson which the children can watch to understand that lesson’s learning point, they will then use the knowledge they have gained to take part in online escape room games. They will use the OutSchool classroom to support each other, take part in activities and contribute to group discussions. 

While this class does not meet live, the children will still be expected to participate by returning videos and photos of their progress and commenting on other’s. Each week learners will need to join in class discussions to expand on the learning point and how they have developed their own ideas. 

Week 1: This week we will start off by looking at probably the most famous inventor Leonardo Di Vinci, we will look closely at his life, his inventions and the way he changed society. The class will watch the learning videos then participate in an online escape room which practices the knowledge we have learnt.

Week 2: Week 2 is all about Thomas Edison. Children will learn about the inventor of the light bulb, how he discovered new things and also the problems he faced with his inventions. After the learning the students will have another escape room to support their learning.

Week 3: This week we will learn about Benjamin Franklin. We will study his life, his inventions and look at the ways he pushed forward nanoscience! The learners will again be given an escape room to demonstrate their knowledge.

Week 4: This week we will be studying the lives and inventions of Louis Pasteur and Alexander Fleming. We will be looking at these together to learn about the invention of vaccines. This week’s escape room will have a vaccine focus.

Week 5: This week we learn about the person that started all of these classes Mr Tim Berners-Lee, the person who invented the internet. We will learn about his discoveries and how they have changed the world. There will again be an escape room to demonstrate learning. 

Week 6: In our final week we will look at George Washington Carver. We will also be recapping on the previous weeks’ learning as well as a final escape room to practice the things we have learnt.
