Class experience
We will start class by briefly introducing ourselves. I will then introduce artist, Jean-Michel Basquiat. I will show his work, spanning from the days of his graffiti art in NYC to his gallery work all over the world! I will talk about his life as an artist, his style and his inspirations. We will then create our very own artwork inspired by the artist's Neo-Expressionism style! The student can use any medium that they choose! This class will be part lecture, part interaction. Students will learn about the Neo-Expressionism art movement!
Canvas or canvas board, paper or whatever the student chooses to create artwork on. Paint, markers, or colored pencils. Paintbrushes (if working with paint). Pencils or pen.
Racism will be discussed in this class since this topic was a huge influence for the artist's work.
