In this 8-week course, students will learn about some of the many great African-American artists throughout history!

Class experience

Students will learn about the lives of various African-American artists from the Harlem Renaissance to the present! Students will also learn about different types of art, art styles, art movements and art techniques!
Homework Offered
Whatever artwork is not finished in class can be completed on the learner's free time. Once the work is completed, the learner can upload photos of the finished work into the classroom.
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
I will provide the students with feedback regarding their artwork. I will talk about how their art connects with the lesson that we learned. I will talk about the student's use of color, line, shape, etc.
Grades Offered
Learners may bring any medium that they choose to create art! Examples include: acrylic paint, oil pastels, watercolors, markers, etc. There will be some lessons where I will ask in advance that the learners bring specific materials such as old magazines, scissors and glue for collage.
Some topics will be addressed during the presentation such as feminism, ageism, racism, addiction, etc. Any artwork that may contain nudity will be covered. I will also ask some weeks to bring scissors to class for collage-making.
