A teacher chosen stitch from group suggestions will be introduced each week. Great for beginners as well as experienced stitchers to brush up on their skills. You can practice on scrap fabrics or work on your own project . Class Structure: Introductions and Check In: 5-10 minutes Presentation of this week's stitch: Lecture combined with video 5-10 minutes Group practice of new stitch: 10-20 minutes with optional discussion while stitching Q & A: 10-15 minutes of student driven topics and feedback on current embroidery projects Brainstorm Ideas for next week's stitch: 5-10 minutes
Learning Goals
Students will learn new embroidery stitches and review previously introduced stitches.
Students will learn problem solving strategies for general embroidery skills.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Students should be comfortable with threading a needle and cutting threads independently.
Supply List
Embroidery Floss or Pearl Cotton Needle with an eye big enough to thread your floss Scissors Fabric- Whatever you have around or a project that you are working on Embroidery hoop
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
I've been teaching children and adults for over twenty years. I have worked as a public school teacher and also at craft/creativity shops. I love to sew and create things. I also love to read, hike and enjoy nature. I have two teenage daughters, two crazy dogs, a funny husband and a cat that thinks she is the boss of us all.
