1 live meeting
50 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
This class is for beginner guitar players who may have already started learning some chords! We will go over five chords (you may or may not already know them all) that are commonly used in pop songs. Then, we will practice the chorus (the catchy part!) of each Taylor Swift song together until we have learned five songs using only those chords. This class is meant to be a relaxed setting to meet and learn together, bonding over an appreciation of Taylor Swift! Chords used will be G, C, D, A, and Em (E minor). Students should know how to hold and strum the guitar. It can help if they know some chords, even if they don't know all these specific ones yet. Each learner will be given the opportunity to play the parts of their favorite of the five songs throughout the class. Lyrics and chords sheets will be posted in the classroom so everyone can keep playing the songs we learned at home!
Learning Goals
Students will learn any of the five chords they didn’t already know and will learn about parts of songs such as verses and choruses. They will also learn about strumming patterns and general timing in music.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Welcome! I am looking forward to teaching young beginner learners to make music with the guitar. Having been homeschooled myself, I know how important it is for kids to learn in ways that support them. I received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and I have five years of my own guitar lessons under my belt. I have taught guitar for three years and played for over ten. My students have been between the ages of 9 and 15. I am passionate about teaching beginners because I want everyone to know that playing music is possible for them. Music has always been important to me, as it acts as a method of expressing feelings that may otherwise be difficult to express. I hope to help students learn how to handle and play the guitar, how to easily play popular songs, and encourage them to continue seeking expression through music outside of my classes.
Outside of teaching guitar, I love writing music, doing yoga, and educating myself about sustainability and our beautiful planet!
