Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 3
Beginner Level
No previous dance experience is required for this class. Jazz dance shoes are recommended, but not required- these leaps and turns can be learned barefoot. Students must have a hard surface to practice on- no carpet. Students will learn how to warm up and stretch properly before attempting dance leaps and turns. We will then go over the fundamentals of of leaps and turns- how to prepare for a skill, how to 'spot', and how to engage the core and other muscles during the skill. Any time a student has a question, they are free to raise their hand and ask. At the very end of each class, we will have a quick discussion about what we did that day and I will answer any last-minute questions. I am a very interactive teacher- I always encourage questions, comments, and suggestions during class.

Parental Guidance
It is highly recommended that parents supervise their children as they take this class and ensure that they adhere to the correct flooring requirement, spacing requirement, and clothing requirement. Dance is a physical art form and injuries can occur if children are not focused and not dancing in the right setting or clothing. It is imperative that students wear either jazz dance shoes or dance barefoot- NO socks allowed, as slipping is very easy when trying to dance in socks.
