This course is an advance ballet class for those that have had 4-5 years of training. The learners will take all the knowledge that they have gained in their ballet training so far to another level! We will cover the basic ballet steps and vocabulary while simultaneously moving further in a our training. The way the class will be structured is 1) Vocabulary and Ballet Etiquette, 2) Performing Ballet barre exercises i.e plie, tendu and degage, 3) Center and across the floor exercises and 4) Reviewing of the lessons we learned and cool down. I will have a vocabulary list and recommending books that the students can study from as well as demonstrating all of the exercises. This way the students will be learning visually, mentally and physically. I am a very open minded and flexible teacher. I know that not every student learns the same way so I encourage an open line of questions during and after classes. If I need to take longer in working or explaining a particular step then in my experience that is fine because ballet uses the same steps over and over just in different variations. If the dancers don't understand the basics then it will be hard for them to progress passed that. Since dance is a hands on subject I will be making sure that the students and I will be having discussions, as well as showing them video clips of different ballets and ballet dancers.
Learning Goals
In this course we will be reinforcing our technique, vocabulary, and coordination in order for us to prepare for pre pointe.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello everyone my name is Gardenia Gilbert. I teach several different styles of dance i.e ballet, contemporary, and introduction to dance, along with fitness classes. I am a professional dancer that has been working in this field since graduating with a B.S in dance in 2015. I believe that everyone can benefit from moving their bodies. Not everyone has to be an experienced dancer or athlete to want to move their bodies.
Some of the best lessons I’ve learned were from ballet classes, that I’m still applying on my current journey in life. The lessons consist of discipline, passion, and confidence in who I am. I want my students to have fun and use whatever knowledge they gain in class on their journey.
As a special treat, some fun facts about me are that I'm currently learning French and I still love taking dance classes. You are never too old or experienced to still be considered a student.
*If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me. I will respond within the 24hr to 48hr time frame.
