Description
Class Experience
Students will practice participating in discussions about a text. -Students will learn how to ask and answer questions about a text. -Students will learn discussion manners (taking turns, listening, connecting to another's thoughts, etc.) Students will discuss the character traits of the strong female character. Students will discuss how they can apply those traits to their own lives to help them become “leading ladies.” Students will practice how to make connections to themselves and to other texts.
I am a certified teacher and have a master's in literacy. I also have experience guiding book clubs in brick and mortar classrooms.
*Students need to read the book before attending each meeting. (If the text is too hard for your child to understand, parents may feel free to read sections aloud to the child for better enjoyment of the novel or have your child listen to the story with an audiobook version.) *To help students prepare for our group discussion they will need to complete the provided discussion questions. They should be prepared to share their thoughts verbally during our book club meetings.
Books should be purchased or borrowed from the library. *Ella Enchanted (https://www.amazon.com/Enchanted-Trophy-Newbery-Carson-Levine/dp/0064407055/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2BT0QVM9WNZ4J&dchild=1&keywords=ella+enchanted+book&qid=1598733560&sprefix=ella+encha%2Caps%2C202&sr=8-1) *The Two Princesses of Bamarre (https://www.amazon.com/Princesses-Bamarre-Gail-Carson-Levine/dp/006440966X/ref=sr_1_1?crid=34Y5X2URY6NXZ&dchild=1&keywords=the+two+princesses+of+bamarre&qid=1598733790&sprefix=The+two+prin%2Caps%2C191&sr=8-1) *Fairest (https://www.amazon.com/Fairest-Gail-Carson-Levine-ebook/dp/B008XO8LTC/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=fairest&qid=1598883757&sr=8-3)
