Class Experience

In this class, students will begin to learn the building blocks of French through themed vocabulary classes. Each week will have a new theme and will not build on the previous weeks, so it is perfect for students to move in and out of class as needed.

This class is great for students who have little to no prior experience with French. As with all my beginner level classes, this class will be near-immersive (about 90% in French, 10% in English to ensure student comprehension). Each class will be structured as follows: introductions by both the teacher and students (this will take place in English), and then we will switch to learning in French. In each class, students will learn through repetition and voice variation.

Students will be learning simple sentences throughout the class, and they will have many opportunities to speak. Repetition for language acquisition is key and will play a large part in this course, both in the form of speaking and singing (don't worry, you don't need to be a professional. It's just for fun!)

This class will run on a 12 week basis and then cycle back to the beginning. Students can enter at any time.

-------

Students will have the opportunity to speak throughout the class as we go through the PowerPoint. Because students are encouraged to repeat and speak in class, a working microphone is required.

In order for all students to hear me in class, I employ a strict muting policy. I will unmute students one at a time so they can work with me, and all students will have many opportunities to speak. I go over the muting policy in each class as a reminder to students. Additionally, due to Outschool policy, students must identify themselves on camera at least once at the beginning of class.

I grew up in a bilingual household here in Canada and we spoke both French and English growing up. Learning multiple languages is a great tool for world travelers, and it is a fantastic tool to stimulate your brain. I love speaking French and cannot wait to share my love of this language with you!
