In this one time class, we will have lots of fun learning about the 5 steps of the Scientific Method through an interactive, hands on experiment with homemade lava lamps! Before we put on our lab coats, we’ll do introductions and give a quick overview of the class rules. Students will learn the five steps of the Scientific Method and engage in a hands-on, lava lamp experiment while documenting their findings.
Students need to have the following materials on hand: A tall, clear water bottle or jar with lid Food coloring Vegetable oil (at least 10-12 oz) Water 1 tablet Alka Seltzer Pencil Paper A worksheet with scientific method cards will be provided before class.
Parental guidance is recommended for pouring oil and adding food coloring.
