In this class, students will read several mythological stories in Latin. The course textbook, Latina Mythica by Bonnie A. Catto, contains English descriptions of the stories as well as a vocabulary index for the Latin readings. Because students of various Latin backgrounds will be joining this class, I will review and teach grammar alongside the readings. It should also be expected that some topics or vocabulary words will be familiar, "old news" even, while others may be new or challenging....
Review and build upon existing Latin reading skills with engaging mythological stories.
Students should read at least the English introduction to each chapter before class on Tuesdays. If they wish to read over the Latin as well, I strongly encourage that!

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
On our last day of class, we will have a review of the content from the course. Students will have the option to take a quiz on the material as well. Each day of class also has formative assessment built in: as we translate and correct on the go, students get immediate feedback on their work.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Mythology has some gnarly topics, including murders and deaths of all sorts, battles, incest (but they're gods, so it's "ok"?), and more. If you have any questions or concerns about the content of these stories, please feel free to reach out to me directly.
