Description
Class Experience
Whether you want to begin exploring Latin on your own, take your studies to the next level, or get help in preparing for the National Latin Exam, you will find the guidance you need in this class. Having taught students ranging from elementary through high school level, I know how to make challenging grammar more accessible and reveal the fun side of this rewarding subject. Enrolling in multiple sessions maximizes the learning opportunities, but even a single class can help address questions,...
The purpose of this class is to improve grammar and vocabulary skills, offer helpful study tips, and broaden the student's mastery of the language, whether at the beginner, intermediate, or advanced level. There is also the option of exploring Ancient Roman history and culture.
I have been teaching Latin to grades four through twelve for over a decade and know how to tailor the material appropriately.
Outside work will depend on the student's needs and length of enrollment. Practice materials will be provided.
Can work with the student-supplied textbook or other materials as required.
I provide a written report on the student's strengths and areas of greatest challenge and progress. A letter grade is also assigned if requested.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Ancient Roman history and culture include slavery, warfare, and other potentially sensitive topics that are handled in an age-appropriate manner.
Textbooks and online source material vary according to learner needs and preferences. I have experience in and access to Latin curriculum sets including Cambridge Latin, Ecce Romani, Latin Alive!, First and Second Form Latin, Latin is Fun, Latin for Children, and more.
