Description

Class Experience

Coming from a Latinx background, my family celebrates this holiday in unique ways each year. We partake in our community festivities, make traditional baked goods, and celebrate our relatives and friends. I have experience with teaching young learners and will approach this specific holiday in an age appropriate and secular manner. Finally, I hold a minor in Spanish and it is my second language so I will be able to teach basic Spanish words related to this Latin American tradition.

25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
While Día de Muertos is based in tradition of celebrating the lives of those relatives and friends who have passed on, this class topic will only focus on the celebration of family, friendship, food, music, and decorations. The class topic will be approached in an age appropriate and secular manner for young learners. For example, "Día de Muertos is a time to spend with family and friends in Latin America. Families get together and have special foods to celebrate those they love!"
