Description
Class Experience
Students will improve oral fluency through activities that require spontaneous speaking and negotiating meaning. Students will review and solidify basic vocabulary. Students will improve grammatical accuracy related to verb aspect (sudah/belum), negation (tidak/bukan), and proper sentence structure.
I have 7 years experience living in Indonesia, including two years of intensive, full-time language study. I have studied language acquisition and linguistics as part of my degree in Intercultural Studies as well as during my time in Indonesia, and I bring a research-informed, linguistic perspective to language classes.
Learners are very strongly encouraged to practice outside of class time, preferably on a daily basis. Videos will be provided for independent practice of vocabulary. When feasible, learners are encouraged to practice actually comprehending and speaking Indonesian in a conversation with Indonesian speakers.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Informal written assessment may be provided upon request.
1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
