1 hour per week. Parents have the option of celebrating a birthday at home for a stuffy or pet rock that has a name starting with the target sound. Welcome to Alphabet Birthday Party! In this engaging course designed for children who might struggle to accurately produce later-developing speech sounds (R, L, X, Q, CH, SH, TH), children will practice making the sounds in isolation and then in the initial position of words (the X lesson focuses on that sound, /ks/ at the ends of words), all set within the festive atmosphere of a birthday celebration. Each session revolves around one of our special alphabet animals, whose birthday is the highlight of the day. The course fosters a supportive learning environment where children are encouraged to actively participate and discover the joy of learning through play.

This class has worked well for typically developing kids and kids with a wide variety of learning differences. The lessons in this class are short (under 10 min each) and the format is repetitive from session to session.

Hi, I'm Meg Frost! I'm a speech therapist with a passion for literacy and language. I have a Masters in Education and a Masters in Speech Pathology and love the blend of art and science that it takes to be a great teacher and therapist.
I teach a class for kids ages 3-6 on letter-sound association that also helps them develop clearer speech. (Make sure to watch the "Welcome Video" after you enroll to learn how to help your child develop clearer speech.) I'm motivated by research that found that kids entering Kindergarten with phonemic awareness skills do better in reading than kids without. In my 10 years as a speech and language pathologist, I have also found that working on phonemic awareness also helps preschoolers develop clearer speech. And because I make it all fun, there's nothing to lose!
In addition to doing speech therapy, I am training my family's 4-month old yellow lab puppy to be a therapy dog. She is a promising student... on some days. :)Reviews
