Description

Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Please note: This class picks up where Beginning Piano Level E leaves off. Prospective students should be able to read standard notation in C position and G position, be able to identify 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th intervals, transpose pieces to G position, understand sharps and flats, understand how to use dynamic contrast (crescendo, diminuendo etc), and have an understanding of articulation markings. Students will continue to develop their sight-reading skills, learn how to play more expressively, read and play in different time signatures and continue to develop dynamic control and phrasing.
I have been teaching piano for over 12 years. I have a Master's Degree in Music Education and a Bachelor's Degree of Art in Music. I am a touring musician and am currently recording my second solo album.
Please note: Students will need to practice at minimum 2 hours every week to stay on top of class material. Sight-reading fluency is essential to learning class pieces.
Please note: The class book will be Piano Adventures Lesson Book Level 2A (blue cover). For advanced students, I also recommend getting Piano Adventures Performance Book Level 2A. I may assign additional pieces for advanced students from the performance book or if he/she is ahead in class work. The links for both books are below.

Lesson Book 2A: https://pianoadventures.com/publications/piano-adventures-level-2a-lesson-book-2nd-edition/ ($7.99)
Performance Book 2A: https://pianoadventures.com/publications/piano-adventures-level-2a-performance-book-2nd-edition/ ($6.99)

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will offer feedback after students perform an exercise and, if needed, provide suggestions to help the student master the concept. Mistakes are a part of learning a musical instrument! So students should not worry if they play the exercise or a piece correct on the first try.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
