Description
Class Experience
In this class we will spend 5-10 minutes getting to know each other, then the rest playing one or two language games from a list of games that test vocabulary, spelling, or grammar. Bananagrams- Use all your letters to create words in a crossword puzzle. Story Chain- We take turns creating a story together, where each person says one sentence, then half, then two words. Taboo- One person has a word, and tries to get others to guess it without saying the word. And More!
Games are a fantastic way to exercise your brain in a way you don't even notice because you're having fun! Students will expand their vocabulary knowledge and usage, and think carefully about grammar and word choice because of the limitations set in each game.
I have two years of experience as an online ESL teacher, and during that time I have seen how much games have helped my students progress. I love to help students improve their English skills, and hope to help parents with at home schooling during this difficult time.
If you have the game Bananagrams or Scrabble, set up the student with the game and some paper, pencil, and sticky notes.
This is a participation based class, so I will informally assess each student and send a report after.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
