This class will be an overview of usage of the comma in English. We will go over the basic rules of commas, as well as discuss stylistic usage. We will go over some example exercises that will apply the students' new knowledge, as well as practice with sentences of your own. I will be encouraging students to interact and discuss the material as well as answer questions. Students do not prior knowledge of comma usage to take this class. I will provide a handout of basic rules of comma usage at the end of class. This class will be helpful to both native English speakers as well as students for whom English is their second language.

Students will improve their knowledge of comma usage in standard English writing.

Hello!
I have been a teacher both in the classroom and online for about a decade now. I first began teaching grammar, reading, and humanities at a local community college when I was only 26. I started working with kids soon after, both one-on-one and in classroom settings. For the past three years, I've been teaching English exclusively online. I have a bachelor's degree in English as well as a master's degree in liberal studies, where I studied history, literature, and philosophy. I am also TESOL certified, and have spent several years teaching English as a second language. As a teacher with Outschool, I am hoping to teach English grammar, literature/book clubs, poetry, and history. I am a big believer that learning is a cooperative process, and I work with a student to help them grow and achieve their learning goals. I love to learn from my students as much as I hope they learn from me.
