Welcome to fifth grade English Language Arts! This series of 4 classes (Fall, Winter I, Winter II, & Spring) can be used as your student's sole ELA course for their year or as a supplement to another ELA class or curriculum. Students should have successfully completed 4th grade Language Arts. In this class, we will work through the third quarter of the 5th grade Common Core English language arts standards. Most weeks will have a lesson in spelling patterns, grammar, a story of the week, and...
tudents will be able to identify spelling patterns and apply them to new words. Students will improve their command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking. Students will conduct short research projects that build knowledge through investigation of different aspects of a topic. Students will be able to produce clear and coherent writing in which the development and organization are appropriate. With guidance and support from peers and adults, develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, and editing.
Our educators have a combined decade of experience in traditional classroom settings as well as virtual teaching. We differentiate or teaching to meet the needs of a wide variety of learners. We are both life-long learners and want to share our love of learning with your child!
