Language Arts: Reading, Writing, Comprehension

This is an on-going class.
Students will be taught how to read fluently and how to answer comprehension questions. Students will also be introduced to vocabulary words.
The first approximately five minutes of the class will be used for introductions and vocabulary introduction. 
Five minutes will be the time given for students to write one or two sentences on the given writing prompt.
Students will take turns reading the selection. The approximately last five minutes will be used to answer comprehension questions.
I have a flexible teaching style were students are able to converse with others about their thoughts on the reading selection.
Throughout the lesson, students will be able to ask me questions and they will receive feedback on their oral reading.
Students will practice their reading, writing and comprehension skills in this class. 

The four language arts domains will be covered in each class—reading, writing, listening and speaking. Students will engage in grade-level activities that foster reading comprehension and fluency. 

Learners may enroll at any time because each lesson stands on its own. I will begin each class with a prompt as a reading and writing exercise. Students will create a complete sentence referencing the prompt.

I will introduce new vocabulary appropriate to each child’s grade-level each week.

I use research-based methods, strategies, and techniques to increase your child’s reading fluency and comprehension skills. This may include flash cards, modeling, practice writing, oral reading, using Google Slides  to introduce and reinforce concepts.

The first five minutes of class will be for introductions, the writing prompt, and vocabulary.

The last five minutes of the class will be dedicated to checking for understanding.

Students will answer comprehension questions verbally and/or in writing.

Students will write a sentence referencing the given prompt.

Students will become familiar with the vocabulary words.

Student will answer comprehension questions verbally and/or in writing.

Depending on when the student enters the class, the themes are subject to change.
