Language Arts for Littles
In this ongoing course, 4-8 year olds will hear a story, answer oral comprehension questions, complete guided drawings, write a title for their drawings, and share each week.

Each class begins with a curated story. These are high interest stories (usually read by actors and actresses from Youtube), which lend themselves to discussion and guided drawing. Each child will have the opportunity to answer comprehension questions. If your child enjoys presenting, s/he can be "spotlighted" for their answers, (if they are shy, I will be sensitive to that, as well). We then will do a step-by-step guided drawing, and a title or caption will be suggested (word bank provided). We'll finish up with sharing our drawings.
Learning Goals
Students will be eased into reading, listening skills, comprehension, art, and public speaking through the use of stories.

Hi! My name is Kerry, and I’m teaching “Help Yourself to Art.” I believe that art is such a mood-booster, an outlet for worries, and a relaxing way to calm clarify our thoughts. I’m not an art therapist, but I think by painting “lines that look angry”, or “your happiest color”, or even a Zentangle picture, or setting some decorative goals for the week in your artwork, your child can keep a visual reminder of what’s great about them, and where they want to be. I guess my “claim to fame”, (in the neighborhood anyway), is that I have 5 sons! I have a Psychology degree and 3 years of graduate work in Child Development. I have taught almost every age, from 1 year olds through university students. I’ve homeschooled for 20 years, and at taught at 2 hybrid schools for the last 3 years. I’ve taught this class for 2 years online to kids in my community.I love kids, art, and ice hockey.Reviews
