Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 12
Parent communication after registering, at least 48 hours before the first session, will also help me plan for instruction. Please let me know your desire for help with specific assignments or continuing skills practice so that we can set learning goals. Sharing information helps me do a better job!

In these 50-minute, 1:1 tutoring sessions, students will be given help with reading and writing tailored to fit the learner’s circumstances and needs. These sessions can focus either on specific assignments that the student needs help with or help and practice with skills. I can assist with guiding students through the writing process, including finding and incorporating strong text evidence into their work, revising their writing, and finally editing for grammar, punctuation, and spelling. I can also help your child learn some basic formulas for writing analytical essays and constructed response writing. I can also work with students to develop basic writing skills related to sentence structure and grammar. . Skills practice may include elements of fiction and figurative language, analyzing nonfiction texts, as well as analytical essays, argumentative writing, informational writing, and narrative writing. Students will be able to share their assignments through screen sharing so we can work together, and/or I can share remedial practice materials during this class if preferred.

Through my 20-plus years of teaching experience, I have taken pride in my role as a writing coach. Developing warm relationships with my students is important, and I get great joy when former students visit or message me to brag about how well they are doing because of the writing skills they mastered in my classes.

(Please note that I don't teach handwriting, but the writing process.)
