In each class learners will be taught a letter of week, and given background information to help them discover what our theme based story lesson will be. We will then discuss the two types of stories to be read. Is the story fiction or nonfiction? We will discuss the difference. Each class is theme based around the time of year and what would be taught in traditional classroom circle and center time. Example, Frogs-letter F, what other words make this sounds, practice making letter, students are read a nonfiction story about frogs as well as a ficton story. Your child will be asked questions about each type of story. We will end class by coloring a picture or an activity like fiction and nonfiction map for students to show understanding and to share with you at home. Classroom management: I will ask student to raise their hands or give thumbs up for understanding. Please bring a dry erase board or paper and marker to make the letter with me. I will send activity for each lesson to classroom prior to our lesson. Extension activities will be shared in the classroom after each lesson. Teacher expertise and credentials
Texas Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hello!
My name is Amy Woldt. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Education with a Major in Early Childhood with certification in ESL and Gifted and Talented. I have taught kindergarten and preschoolers for 29 years. During this time I worked with different kind of learners. I have created scaffolded lessons to meet the needs of all my learners, since we all learn differently. With my ESL and Early Childhood expertise, I was lead to teach on another platform teaching English 2018-present to young students. I enjoyed teaching on this type of platform and decided to join the Outschool platform in the Spring of 2020 after retiring from public education. I also tutor reading to two elementary students in person after school.
I am a mom to two boys 19 and 26 and a twelve year old pug, who thinks he's human.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy traveling, watching movies and swimming with my husband.
I believe that all students can learn under the right guidance, structure and creative learning activities. I hope to see your student in my classroom soon.
