"Long long ago, when tigers used to be smoking..." Oh, you're here! The story just started. This is how we start traditional stories in Korea! Do you want to join the Korean story? It's going to be so much fun and you'll learn lots of things as well. Do you know how to read the Korean characters Hangul? That's going to be so helpful if you help us reading, but no worries if you don't know how to read yet--I will help you, so let's study together.

We're going to work with the slides BE Education provides. We're going to read a story together and study the Korean language & culture through it every week. Here are some stories we're going to work on!

Week of May 21 : 흥부와 놀부 Heungbu and Nolbu - A story about brothers. There will be monsters and gold in the story!
Week of May 28 : 해와 달이 된 오누이 A brother and a sister who became the Sun and the Moon - It's an ancient story how the Sun and the Moon are made! There will be a boy, a girl, and a tiger.
Week of Jun 4 : 곶감과 호랑이 A gotgam(dried persimmon) and a tiger - This is a story about a gotgam and a tiger, obviously!
Week of Jun 11 : 은혜 갚은 까치 A magpie which returned the favor - It's a story about where I used to live in Korea. There will be a pheasant, a man, and snakes in the story!
Week of Jun 18 : 호랑이 형님 A tiger brother - You met a tiger in a mountain! What should you do? There's a clever man who escaped in a very wise way.
Week of Jun 25 : 혹부리 영감 An old man with a lump - There were two old men with a lump. Let's see what they can do with those!
Week of Jul 2 : 도깨비 방망이 A Dokkaebi(goblin)'s bat - Have you seen a magical bat? What would happen if you swing a magical bat?
Week of Jun 9 : 팥죽 할머니와 호랑이 Patjuk(red bean porridge) grandma and a tiger - A tiger is trying to hurt Patjuk grandma! Let's see how she beats a tiger!
Week of Jun 16 : 도깨비 감투 Dokkaebi(goblin)'s cap - There is a magical cap from Dokkaebi. Let's see what we can do with it!

We're going to study for 45 minutes every week with a new story, which is completely independent. Just jump in, and you don't need to worry if you missed anything in previous classes. We're going to practice reading, pronunciation and listening while we're reading the stories together. We're going to focus on studying characters & words, and learn the Korean culture while we're studying the folk tales. There is a class for younger students, so please check those if you're interested! The link to the younger learner class is here.

This class doesn't require any background knowledge to take, but it's going to be amazing if you have studied the Korean characters. Feel free to join and let's have a fun time! The teacher will provide worksheets which students can practice writing & enjoy coloring, and the videos recorded by the native Korean teacher.

I have a Korean culture & language group here. Please check it if you're interested in studying with other Korean learners through sharing fun things :)

Other Details

Parental Guidance
We're going to work on the fun Korean folk tales. However, since it's a folk tale, the stories can include a little bit of violence like any other folk tales in the world, like a wolf trying to eat three little piggies in western folk tales. We're not going to describe the violence verbally or visually, so don't need to worry about it :)
