Each week, we'll learn and discuss South Korean culture by discovering Korea's customs, folklore, history, music (including K-pop), different cities, and much more. Learn in-depth about Korean culture with new friends!

Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
In this ongoing club, we'll meet new friends and learn more in-depth about South Korean culture together.  This club will have a presentation for learning new material.  It will also include time for discussion and questions so that students can connect with the material.  Each weekly meeting is a stand-alone class, so feel free to jump in at any time.  No previous knowledge of Korea is necessary.

Below is a tentative list of themes covered during each week.  After the last topic, the topics will cycle back and start at topic 1's content again.  Themes are subject to change based on the students' interests.  Please feel free to email the teacher with any topic interests/suggestions.  

* Week of July 5th: A brief Korean history.  Traditional dress, music, and practices.  The history of the Great King Sejong and the invention of written Korean.
* Week of July 12th:  Everyday life for Koreans/ Visit Seoul
* Week of July 19th:  Manners, superstitions, and beliefs
* Week of July 26th:  Learn about different dishes/ Street food
* Week of Aug. 2nd:  Korean zodiac/ Visit Jinhae & Jindo
* Week of Aug. 9th:  Holidays & special celebrations
* Week of Aug. 16th:  Korean fairy tales/folklore
* Week of Aug. 23rd:  Visit Gyeongju & Busan
* Week of Aug. 30th:  Music (including K-pop), entertainment, fashion, and fun
* Week of Sept. 6th:  How to be a pro at dining out at a Korean restaurant or a friend's house/ Special occasion foods 
* Week of Sept. 13th:  Temple stay/ Island hopping to Jeju, Udo, Ulleungdo, & Dokdo
