In this ongoing class we will learn a new song appropriate for ukelele each week including chords, strumming patterns, rhythms and lyrics for singing along.
Class experience
Each week we will learn a new song suitable to the ukelele. We will learn the chord fingerings and progression, strumming pattern, rhythms and lyrics for singing along. Class will be structured with a quick review of ukelele basics such a holding and strumming technique and chord diagrams. It will then proceed to introduce the new song for the week including some listening of tune and rhythm and some analysis of the chord progression. Students will learn chords and progressions for a new song each week. Students will learn 2 possible strumming patterns for the weekly song. Students will sing along while they chord to the new song on the ukelele.
Homework Offered
Play the song and sing for someone else. The more you play the easier it gets.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students willbeasked to play parts individually to see how they are coming along but there is no formal assessment.Grades Offered
- In tune ukelele - Lyric/chord sheets will be attached to the classroom ahead of time. - Tuning app could be useful but not necessarily required.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
