What's included
4 live meetings
2 in-class hoursHomework
1-2 hours per week. it is recommended that students practiced their chords for 15-20 minutes three days in the week when possible.Assessment
There is no formal assessment only positive and constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement.Class Experience
Students will be taught all the basics of ukelele including: parts of the instrument, identifying strings, frets and fingers in chord charts, how to interpret chord charts, 4 to 5 different chords, common chord progressions, basic strumming patterns and of course a few songs to sing along to as we play. My class is structured around demonstration and I work in an "I do, we do, you do" model where i instruct and demonstrate then we play together followed by more individualized playing and feedback. The class will have ample opportunity to ask questions and listen to each other play as well as play as a collective group. We will also play some games designed to help the learning and remembering if these new skills. While we will learn the proper tuning fir each string on the ukelele we will not have time to tune every instrument in each lesson so stydents need to try to have their ukes tuned before we start each day.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am very excited to teach students in a virtual world. I teach various arts and crafts, cooking, creative writing, basic sewing, music including guitar, piano, ukelele, singing, musical theatre and music and movement with young children. I have a music education degree and have taught public school for 14 years as well as private and group music lessons for 20 years.
I have an instrument collection including bagpipes, accordion, water drum and an auto harp to name some of the more exciting ones. I also had the opportunity to sing in a group for the Queen of England!
I believe the arts are an integral part of education and every child deserves on opportunity to learn. I look forward to being part of that opportunity.
