The largest lizard in the world is ten feet long with deadly saliva and only lives on a few small islands in Indonesia. How did they get there? How long have they been there? Where did they come from? Who first discovered them? How do they interact with people? These questions and more will be answered as we look back at the fossil record of the ancestors of Komodo dragons. Miss Amalia has always been fascinated with reptiles, and when she was living in Indonesia a few years ago, she went on a five day boat ride to the islands where Komodo dragons live in the wild. Through her wildlife photography, students will learn about how Komodo dragons live, what their closest relatives are, and the legend of the Dragon Princess. A live lizard (Lizzie the leopard gecko) will make an appearance to compare similarities and help identify lizard characteristics.
