Description
Class Experience
Students can demonstrate knowledge of hand signs and staff placement (key of F) for "do, re, mi, sol, la." Students will be able to describe "beat" and "tempo" and read rhythms that contain quarter and eighth notes. Students will be able to sing several folk songs from memory, some with hand signs.
Students should practice with the recordings a few times a week.
Students will print out a little workbook for this class. They should have the one octave xylophone from unit one in class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
An informal assessment will be given at week eight.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
We will be using the folk songs collected in "Hot Peas and Barley-o" by Susan Brumfield
