In this introductory class we will discuss using a slide-show, online interactive worksheets and a few videos. We will classify koalas (vertebrates-mammals and reasons), learn about their habit, diet, and fun facts. Koalas are marsupials that live in the eucalyptus trees in Australia. If ever on the ground- did you know they can run as fast as a bunny? They can sleep up to 18 hours! They are fascinating creatures let's enjoy discussing them in class and learning some fun facts. In closing, we...
Students will learn facts about the koala such as they don't generally drink water, it comes from the eucalyptus leaves, they mostly live in trees, have pouches for their babies, the baby is the size of a jellybean when born, can sleep for 20 hours, is a herbivore and a marsupial.
Totally OPTIONAL: Learn how to read and pronounce (if you don't already know these 5 big words for your age group) - marsupial (baby grows in pouch) herbivore (eats plants) arboreal (lives in trees) eucalyptus (type of gum tree) nocturnal (sleeps during the day)
Learners will NOT need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools. "Raise hand" - Zoom offers a way for students to digitally raise their hands. Students can click the ‘Participants‘ button to expand the participants panel. At the bottom of this panel, there is a button called “raise hand.” Students can use this button to get my attention if they are muted. We mute the class because there is often times feedback from different mics and noises in the background that can make it a challenge to hear clearly. Headsets work well, but not required. A quiet background, a quiet place in home, truly helps all who are in the class to hear and is super-duper appreciated.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Looking for BUZZING students to BEE smart in my GARDEN of knowledge.
