What's included
Homework
2-4 hours per week. Students must be willing to put in the time to complete their projects each week so that they can continue developing their skills and start more complex projects.Class Experience
In this Flex Class, students will learn the casting on, knit and purl stitch, and how to bind off or stitch ends together. This is a six week class, where each week a video will be loaded to the classroom along with a pdf of the pattern for that weeks project. In the video I will walk the students through how to start and complete each project, along with covering each stitch in that weeks project pattern. The students are expected to have the PDF of the pattern printed out, along with the needed materials for that week, while they are following along with the video. I recommend students pause and work on what was taught then proceed with watching the video. The projects made in this class will be Week 1: washcloth; Week 2 binding off washcloth; Week 3: Scarf; Week 4 binding off scarf; Week 5 hat, Week 6 binding off hat. Students will learn how to read a pattern in this class. This class will build on each class before it adding new knitting skills to the lesson plan. Students will need yarn, either cotton or acrylic in worsted weight, knitting needles sizes 6, 7, 8 (this is to help them learn about guage and finding the size needle that is best for them. I recommend circular needles as this is easier for students to handle. stitch markers, scissors, and printed pattern provided by the teacher. Links will be provided below of all that is needed so you can order ahead of time. Or you can go to your local yarn store and they can help you find what you need. Parents are encouraged to be nearby to be available for help since teacher is not able to physically help students. The flex class will have all video posted in the classroom weekly along with the patterns, students are encouraged to pause and re-watch as much as they need too to learn these skills in knitting. All students are encouraged to work on projects for at least 30 min a day if not more to be able to complete projects by the end of class.
