We will review how to cast on, and the first beginning stitches. We will learn how to increase and decrease. These skills are needed to complete the dish cloth. This is a great first project once the student has learned the basic knitting skills. This is a great lesson after my very first class teaching beginning knitting. This quick project gives students confidence to build up to more projects. We will talk about future desired projects. Students will need size 5 needles and cotton yarn. Students may need to complete this project on their own.

Teacher expertise and credentials
PERSONAL INFO: Hello, Thank you for checking out my bio. My teaching career began with a BS in teaching Mathematics and English from South Carolina. I currently live in New Hampshire, USA. I have taught children 1 to 18 for the last 30 years. I have homeschooled my 13 kids for over 17 years. I have also taught in a traditional classroom. I have taught English, math, science, and home sciences, piano and flute. All of my children excelled in music and I have coached them in many different instruments. I have taught foreign exchange students from Spain, Japan, Vietnam, South Korea, and Brazil. Teaching is my passion. I love to find what students are interested in and to guide them to reach their goals. I especially love practical living skills. I like to relate all learning to things that kids will need in the future. I plan to offer practical math classes, as well as fun knitting classes and cooking classes for beginners. I also love to teach music to beginning students to introduce them to a love for the piano. Thank you for considering me to be your learner's teacher. I look forward to helping you with your child’s educational needs and desires. See you in the classroom.
My classes will always be inclusive, engaging and I will make sure that each student has an opportunity for participation at their own pace. I understand that some students are shy and I will be sensitive to your student’s learning style and personality. I love to allow every student their chance to shine in the class as much as possible.
CLASS EXPECTATIONS/MUTING:
I do my best to encourage participation from learners enrolled in my classes. I prefer to leave learners unmuted, but as an Outschool parent myself, I understand that there are instances where learners need to be muted due to background noise that cannot be prevented. Parents, please feel free to mute your learners at your discretion.
As the teacher, there are also instances where I will need to utilize the mute function. If there is background noise that may be distracting to other learners enrolled in the class, I will advise the student that they are being muted to limit the background noise.
ZOOM:
Please test Zoom before class. I like to be fully present with students as soon as we begin class, and do not access my conversations or classroom comments on Outschool after the class has already started. Please have a white board and marker available for class.
