Class Experience
This class is part of the "Kitchen Skills You Should Know Before You Leave Home" series and provides learners with a better understanding on how to cook eggs and safety tips that they can take forward in the kitchen for years to come. In this camp learners will be introduced to specialized tricks for different egg-cooking methods. While we enjoy our eggs, we will discuss the science behind each cooking method. Day 1: What is an egg? We will be talking about the parts of an egg, grading, and...
Day 1: 1 egg 1 plate Day 2: 1 small saute pan/skillet (you can use non-stick but not necessary) 2 eggs vegetable oil Day 3: 2 qt or larger pot 1 tray of ice cubes in a medium bowl of water 4 large eggs white vinegar Day 4: 2qt or larger pot 1 small bowl white vinegar slotted spoon paper towel Day 5: 3 eggs Filling of your choice (cooked and chopped veggies and/or shredded cheese) Seasoning of your choice 1 tbsp vegetable oil 1 piece of bread (to practice flipping the omelette) 8 inch saute pan
5 hours per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
There should be an adult present/close by as we will be working with hot pans. Caution will be emphasized in the course as well. Please be aware that this camp involves eggs and some other possible allergens. We cannot replace the eggs, but can replace any other ingredient necessary - so please contact me if you have any allergens so we can work together to find alternative ingredients as necessary.
