Oh no! Janet totally forgot that she's in charge of the punch drink at the school dance tonight! She has all of the ingredients, but the recipe is for a small group of people, and she has to make enough punch for the entire school. It's getting late. Can you help her convert between cups, quarts, pints, and gallons to make enough punch for everyone? In this digital "escape room" class, students will practice converting between US Customary System liquid measurements (cups, pints, quarts, and gallons) to help Janet adjust her recipe. I teach this class using Google Slides and screenshare. We'll begin class with a quick review of these measurements, and then students will work together to solve problems for each step of the recipe and race the clock to win. I'll provide two visual resources to help students remember the conversions, but this class is best for students who are already familiar with these measurements. This class will be most fun with at least two learners and will be cancelled and refunded if only one learner is enrolled.
Learning Goals
Students will gain confidence and proficiency converting between liquid measurements in the US Customary System.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from University of Alabama at Birmingham
I'm an accountant with a teaching background who enjoys learning and strives to foster a love of learning in students through games and interactive learning. I believe students learn best when they are having fun and interacting with the material.
I have always had a passion for learning and have diverse interests. I'm especially passionate about building strong foundations in language and math. I believe confidence in these two areas will give students the tools to learn almost anything they'd like to in life.
As an accountant, I have expertise in mathematics and finance. I'm an Enrolled Agent and believe everyone should be proficient in budgeting and personal finance. I believe a strong foundation in math is important to develop advanced skills with numbers later in life. Likewise, strong grammar and language skills will help students communicate effectively and give them the tools to learn anything they'd like to. I'm also passionate about culture and language and have formally studied nine languages, including studying abroad. I want to share the world with students through language and exploration.
I hope to share my love of learning with each of my students as they explore their personal interests. In doing so, students will become lifelong learners and continue to grow in and out of the classroom.
