Kitchen Chemistry: Liquid Science & Liquid Fun!

Class

Average rating:5.0Number of reviews:(70)
This class will explore basic chemistry using everyday kitchen materials, specifically liquids!

Class experience

Students will discover how everyday liquid items found in most kitchens can interact and connect to science (surface tension, moving molecules and more)!
I taught College for Kids Kitchen Chemistry to students in this age range for multiple years! I've also taught double sections of science as an elementary school teacher for 10 of my 11 years! I've learned a great deal of background knowledge in regards to science!
The materials below are optional, but recommended. Your child can simply watch our experiment if desired!

Materials Needed to Carry Out Experiments:
*Water, pepper, whole (or another FULL fat) milk, food coloring (cheap brands are best), soap (name brand works best), 2-4 small bowls, Q-tips

For Experimental Variations:
*Additional small bowls (2-4), another type of milk (1%, Almond Milk, etc.), cooking oil (any kind), or any other fun kitchen liquids you’d like to test!

Optional for Clean Up:
*Bowl or bucket to dump liquids in between trials, towels/paper towels for any spills. If your child is younger and you are concerned about them pouring liquids, consider putting milk and water in smaller cups for them prior to class. Of course, you're also welcome to help them as needed!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
