Class Experience

In the class, students will be treated to a introductory discussion about kittens, listen to a non-fiction read aloud about kittens and then participate in a Show & Tell session where each child can share 1-2 kitten/cat-themed items. Students will be delighted to interact with myself and one another. There will be no slideshows.

This class is best suited for children aged 3-6 but is flexible if you feel your younger or older child would be interested in joining us.

There are no reading skills required. Children will be asked to follow our group rules to listen when another is speaking and waiting for the teacher to acknowledge it is their time to share.

Learning Goals

Students will improve their listening comprehension, vocabulary skills, and build their background knowledge of concepts. Additionally, they will practice school-readiness skills such as taking turns, active listening, responding to a peer, waiting their turn and describing objects.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello everyone and thank you for looking at my classes. I am a full-time public school teacher with experience teaching children in preschool through sixth grade. I have been teaching for 18 years and before that worked in many rules with children such as camp counselor retail sales in educational toy store and private babysitting. I love the concept of our school and have watched my son enjoy many classes himself!

I believe it is crucial for children to develop their vocabulary and background knowledge concepts at an early age through literacy and math education with thematic components that are engaging and age-appropriate. The more concepts and vocabulary children are exposed to the better readers and writers they become. I also love incorporating sensory learning techniques into classes as well.

The types of classes I will offer include read aloud’s with show and tell, Cinematic arts and crafts projects, age-appropriate scavenger hunts, thematic toy discussion groups and early literacy and math concepts.

Not only am I a teacher, I am also a mother. My son is soon turning 7 and is obsessed with video games! He even got me into playing too. When we’re not playing video games we enjoy outdoor activities such as bike riding and swimming. We both have the same favorite color—GREEN!
